Panic button device and app launched

A real-time SOS response app and device called the Panther Mobile security solution, is now available.

It was developed by local company Digistar Corporation Bhd with US company React Mobile Ltd.

The Panther Mobile is a 2-in-1 solution that comes in the form of a mobile app and a small oval-like device with an easily accessible panic button.

In order for the device to work, it has to be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth. 

Users also have to install the companion app which is available for Android and iOS. 

If the phone is not within reach in the pocket or handbag, the companion Sidekick device offers an easily accessible panic button to send a SOS signal. 

At the same time, the Sidekick device can be tracked via GPS, providing accurate information of the user’s current location. 

According to Digistar Corporation Bhd group CEO Datuk Wira Lee Wah Chong, what makes Panther Mobile Sidekick unique is the integration with the company’s existing Panther911 CMS (central monitoring system) which operates round the clock. 

Once the panic button is triggered, the system will immediately send a distress call to family members, local authorities and the police.

An e-mail and SMS will also be send to the family members with the location of the distress signal. 

Lee said that Digistar has six CMS command centres nationwide, one each in Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Johor, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak, serving around 6,000 existing residential and business customers.

The Panther Mobile Sidekick is available only on a subscription basis with two options available.

The first package comes in the form of a twelve month contract at RM35 per month. Meanwhile the two year contract costs RM30 per month.
