Here’s your chance to laugh out loud as 50 comedians, improv acts, vaudevillian silent comedy and ‘laugh-a-thons’ spring to action from March 24 to April 15.
PETALING JAYA: Nothing quite transforms a dreary day than a good case of the giggles and the LOL Fest 2017 promises to deliver gut-busting jokes every single day from March 24 to April 15.
This year’s festival will feature an eclectic mix of popular and upcoming local and international comedians, with headline acts by the hilarious Kumar from Singapore; the non-verbal, kid-friendly comedy of Japanese duo Gamarjobat; and Malaysia’s in-your-face queen of comedy Joanne Kam.
“We are excited with this year’s line-up. Throughout the past eight years, LOL Events has worked at establishing a platform to support emerging and renowned talents in the region, who have also involved the local community and the entertainment industry,” said Rizal Kamal, CEO of LOL Events, the festival organiser.
“We believe that people should learn to laugh more, and at times, engage in conversations sparked by the social commentaries in the comedy acts.”
LOL Festival 2017 is touted as a series of specially produced and curated shows that will feature Japanese comedy, bilingual comedy, improvisation comedy and a variety of stand-up comedy, including “Bite Me!”, an eating competition amongst some of the biggest comedians in the industry.
‘Laugh-a-thon’ meanwhile is a unique show that will feature local and international comedy talents in a back-to-back six-hour comedy session, the first of its kind in South East Asia. Audiences can opt to attend one session or all.
For the first time, part of this festival will also feature performers from the Magners International Comedy Festival, the largest comedy roadshow touring Asia, that will culminate with its finale in Malaysia.
LOL Fest 2017 is supported by Malaysia Major Events (MME), a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
Tickets for all shows of the LOL Fest 2017 are available through Ticketpro Malaysia (www.ticketpro.com.my) and range from RM60 to RM300.
