MELAKA, Mar 14: Melaka DAP secretary Khoo Poay Tiong today challenged Duyong assemblyman Goh Leong San (pic) to repeat his allegation that he (Khoo) had committed fraud in a land lease.

Khoo, who is also Ayer Keroh assemblyman and state assembly opposition leader said Goh being an experienced assemblyman knew that he could be charged in court if he repeated the allegation outside the state assembly.

“He (Goh) knows the implication; if he mentions the content of the police report outside the state assembly he could be charged in court; that’s why he chose to make the allegation inside.

“I want Duyong (Goh) to retract what he said inside the state assembly and apologise to me, and I remind others to stop making erroneous comments or criticisms about me,” he told a press conference here today.

During the Melaka state assembly session last week, Goh asked an oral question on the outcome of the investigation on the police report against a land lease fraud involving losses totaling RM976,300, which had mentioned Khoo.

Speaking to the press outside the state assembly last week, Khoo admitted that the transaction did take place but that it was genuine and not a fraud.

Also present at the press conference today were two individuals named in the police report, Wong Chi Sing, 54, and Chua Soon Teck, 29, who were there to explain in detail about the transaction.

Meanwhile, Khoo said Melaka DAP had not received any notification on the resignation of 182 pary members as claimed by the group’s spokesman in a press conference.

“Based on a press report, only 20 people were at the press conference, who said they would submit their resignation letters. We are still waiting for the letters.

“We thank them for their contribution to the party, we wish them all the best; personally I have worked with them before; I hope they will take a month to consider before making their decision. Don’t be too emotional about leaving the party,” he said.

According to him, DAP has 5,542 members in the state. — Bernama
